Costume Ideas

Character Background Stories:
Daniel Cope (played by media student, Thomas Block) is a hopeless romantic and is boarding a train to London for the first time to start a new life independently. However, being obsessed with love he sees a girl on the train that he instantly falls for and starts daydreaming about what it would be like if they were together.

Costume ideas for Daniel Cope:

For our costume we were going for a slightly mainstream approach to suit our artist Dan Cope and his target audience. We dressed him in a checked shirt with a white t-shirt underneath which is similar to what the artist Dan Cope actually wears.
This is our artist Daniel Cope. To make our video appear more valid we have used this artist's style which is a strong indicator of the indie pop/folk genre.

Paige Jones (played by media student, Jenna Bolingbroke) is a broken-hearted girl who is boarding a train to London to escape the memories of her past. She is reading as she sees Daniel but doesn’t take much notice of him.
Costume Ideas for Paige Jones:
This is Paige's costume which consists of baige chinos, a red top and a leather jacket. This is a typical mainstream genre indicator and is a popular choice of clothing amongst teenagers and young people.

These shoes are called brogues and are a main part of Paige's costume. This is because many 'indie/mainstream' celebrities wear them to promote their 'unique' style. However, these shoes have now become mainstream as many young people wear them to show others that they have been inspired by a particular celebrity.

  1. To strengthen your planning you need to evaluate location, costume, performers and all elements of mise-en-scene to research. It is important that your ideas are strongly illustrated to research into the genre, similar artists and research into how your specific target audience consumes popular culture. Without reference, particularly to evaluating generic elements of your planning you will not have access to the higher grade bands when it comes to assessment. Reference your coursework and blog archives to see how students have achieved strong marks.
