'I'll show you New York' song lyrics

These are the lyrics to our chosen song ‘I’ll show you New York’ by Daniel Cope. The lyrics connote strong images of a man who’s in love with a girl and would do anything for her. For example, the lyric ‘crying when the world was at your feet’ suggests that this girl feels broken hearted about her past and wants to get away from her life. Daniel Cope is singing about how he’ll take her away from the pains of her past and show her a better life with him.

You felt abandoned, lying on the stairs
Knowing your lover’s inside.
The sound of freedom is blowing on the wind,
Begging you to walk into the night,
Begging you to walk into the night.

And I felt sorry when I saw you lying there,
Crying when the world was at your feet,
Lent you my hand, lifted you up into the air
Whispered in your ear,
Come follow me.

I’ll show you London,
I’ll show you Rome,
I’ll show you New York,
We’ll call it home,
Say you’ll come with me,
We’ll see the world,
With troubles behind us,
Oh, my beautiful girl.

The city skyline, cut into the stars,
Your hand was pressing firmly into mine,
The people around us all begin to come alive,
As the music plays the rhythm wakes the night,
The music plays the rhythm wakes the night.

And I felt sorry when I saw you lying there,
Crying when the world was at your feet,
Lent you my hand, lifted you up into the air
Whispered in your ear,
Come follow me.

I’ll show you London,
I’ll show you Rome,
I’ll show you New York,
We’ll call it home,
Say you’ll come with me,
We’ll see the world,
With troubles behind us,
Oh, my beautiful girl.

With troubles behind us,
Oh, beautiful girl,
My beautiful girl.
